Wilma Sparks, age 86, passed away on April 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 19, 1938, she led a life filled with compassion, dedication, and love for her family and community. She was a former resident of Knoxville and most recently resided in Clarksville.
Wilma's professional journey was marked by her proud tenure as a Nutritionist at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in Knoxville. Her commitment to the well-being of children was a reflection of her generous spirit and deep-seated desire to contribute positively to the lives of others. She was highly respected in her field, where she used her knowledge and expertise to make a lasting impact.
A devoted member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, Wilma found strength, fellowship, and community support through her faith. Her life was characterized by her warmth and nurturing nature, traits that extended beyond her profession to all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Wilma was also known for being an incredibly supportive wife to her late husband, Ronald L. Sparks, a distinguished member of the US Marine Corps. Her pride in their partnership and the sacrifices made during his service embodied her strong character and unwavering loyalty.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded by her parents John and Katie Copeland, and brothers, Billy Joe, Kenneth Ray, and Johnny Copeland.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Honeycutt, and her grandsons, Johnny Copeland, Gregory Tinsley, and Ricky Tinsley (Carol Proctor). Wilma's legacy continues through her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who carry on her values of kindness and devotion to family. She is also survived by her sisters, Margie Kent and Bonnie Fay Smith.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 4:00 PM at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison St, Clarksville, TN 37040. She will be laid to rest at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919
As we remember Wilma, we celebrate a life that cherished family, embraced community, and inspired others with her kindness and dedication. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she touched.
