Verna Mae Dexter, age 80, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Gateway Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Wesley and Karen Barrineau officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Verna entered this life on September 7, 1932 in Galesburg, Illinois, daughter to the late Henry Quinlin and Ethel Cline Lage. She was a homemaker and a member of the church family at St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Verna devoted much of her time serving the United Methodist Women Day Group and the Clarksville Unit of United Methodist Women as President and Vice President, respectively. She also served as President of the VFW Women's Auxiliary for a number of years and volunteered for five years at the Pumpkin Patch.
Verna was preceded in death by her dear husband, Archie E. Dexter and her beloved daughter, Brenda Gail Dexter.
Survivors include her children, Richard Berry and wife Valerie, Dale Dexter and wife Stacey, Diana Purdy, and Linda Williams and husband Rick, all of Clarksville; sisters, Beverly Shreeves of Ill. and Ruby Hollis and husband Roy of Mich.; and ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Davenport, Rick Williams, Josh Williams, Joe Seay, Seth Cody, and Joel Cody.
