Listen to Obituary

Thomas O’Hara Presler, age 77, of Clarksville, TN died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025.

He was born in Princeton, KY to the late John and Dorothy Presler on July 22, 1948. As a young man he was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found fly fishing, deer hunting, or practicing for his next archery competition. Tom was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and the University of Tennessee School of Social Work. He retired with over thirty years of service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky where he worked as a clinical social worker and supervisor. He was known for his creative spirit and enjoyed using his hands to execute his ideas, whether that was through woodworking, painting, carving, or one of his other many artistic talents. After retirement, a love for traveling led his wife, Millie, and him to spend a couple of years living abroad where they enjoyed exploring most of Europe together and creating lifelong memories. He was a faithful member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed the Men’s Brotherhood Class.

Tom is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Millie Armstrong; children, Bill (Amelia) Presler, Amy (Jon) Palmer, Dottie Presler, Austin (Carissa) Ausenbaugh and daughter in love, Austin Tyler Meade; nine beloved grandchildren, Drew (James), Isabella, Alexander, Abigail, Paxton, Gavin, Sarah, Amelia, Emerson, and Austin; brothers, Ed (Betty) Presler and John (Marty) Presler. He delighted in being Uncle Tom to his seven nieces and nephews.

He was a lifelong advocate for those who were less fortunate. In accordance with that, the family asks that any gestures of sympathy be expressed to Loaves and Fishes at P.O. Box 3241 Clarksville, TN 37043 or Montgomery County Animal Care and Control at 616 North Spring Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.

His wish for his body to be donated to Vanderbilt Medical School was fulfilled.
