SFC (Ret) William Lee Hedges, age 73, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at his home in Clarksville.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Ezell officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Full military honors will be rendered.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday at the funeral home.
William entered this life on February 29, 1940 in New Middletown, Indiana, son of the late Paul and Kathleen Flanigan Hedges. He was a U.S. Army retiree, having honorably served his country in Vietnam. William's military career took him to many locales abroad and his duty stations included those in Germany, Korea, Panama, and Vietnam. William was a recipient of numerous citations and campaign ribbons and include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Cluster, EIB, CIB, and Good Conduct Medals. Following his Army career William worked as a Residential Maintenance and Property Manager in the rental business.
In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by a brother, James Hedges. Survivors include his children, Hermisenda (Shinda) Recio of Texas, Tony Corrales of California, Billy Hobson of West Virginia, and Joey Wirtz of Florida; sisters, Lois May Blankenship and Mary Ellen Stroud, both of Indiana and Linda Sue Yack of Georgia; and sister-in-law Florence Hedges of Indiana. He was the proud grandfather of seven.
