SFC (Ret) Liley Ruth Davis Gordon, age 70, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her home in Clarksville with her two cats and dog by her side, and Dr, Dewald, Joan Dewald, and Tina Weems caring for her daily the last three months.
Celebration of Life will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2024, at McReynolds-Nave and Larson Funeral Home with Bishop Timothy Grant officiating. She will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West with Full Military Honors.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the Funeral Home.
She was born July 15, 1953, in Hayti, Missouri; daughter of the late Oralee (Walker) and O.J. Davis of Arkansas.
Her family includes her son, Jerome Gordon; brothers Issac, Arthur, O.J and Jeffrey; sisters Linda, Patricia and Lisa.
Leaves behind her three faithful companions, Teenie the dog and Kitty Mae and Meow her indoor cats and eight outside cats.
She is preceded in death by Jack, Prince, Peaches, Mitzi, MJ and Bubba and Fancy the bird.
Sgt Gordon spent 21 years in the Women's Army Corps and United States Army. Ruth was very proud of being in the last group of the Women's Army Corp (WAC) then becoming a member of the US Army. After retiring from the Military, Ruth's second career was office manager for Clarksville Dental Center from 1995 until 2016. She was active in the Clothes Ministry at her church Deliverance Outreach Temple.
In her spare time, Ruth was an avid bowler with an average of 160 while bowling at Fort Campbell's Hooper and Clarksville's Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center. She also loved cooking and was a talented cook. Previously she was in a singing group and enjoyed taking part in office functions that include singing.
Member and Officer in the Clarksville Chapter of the Medical Group Management Association and devoted her time to organizing events to bring awareness to the medical community about the group. Even after retirement she remained active in the group.
