Sammie D. Bazzell, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at his home in Clarksville.
The Bazzell family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon Monday, December 23, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Dumas officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Sammie entered this life on February 9, 1927 in Graves County, Kentucky, son to Sam N. Bazzell and Ollie Pascall Bazzell. Following his service to country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Bazzell had an active professional career. In addition to retiring from the State where he worked as a Manager, Sammie was a partner in the B&C Distribution and B&C Motor Companies. He was a former member of Masonic Lodge #761 and Scottish Rite Masons, and was a member of the VFW Post 4895, where he was a Manager. He also worked as a car delivery person for O.B. Garland. Sammie was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of over 62 years, Anfinettie Lensgraf Bazzell of Clarksville; his son Brent Bazzell of Clarksville; and siblings Joe Miller Bazzell of California and Mary Pauline Price of Clarksville. He was the grandfather of Brandi Bazzell and great grandfather to Aiden Stefko.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings James C. Bazzell and Ollie Geraldine Bazzell.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
