Ruby Evelyn Honea Holder, age 97, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 9, 2023 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Holder was born August 27, 1925 in Madison County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Raybon Fanning Honea and Ernest W. Honea. Her childhood was spent with her parents, 10 siblings, and beloved grandfather farming in Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee. Her favorite roles in life were wife, mother, grandmother, and servant to her Lord. In 1945, Mrs. Holder married Donald Holder, her beloved husband of 74 years until his death in 2020. In 1971, they settled in Clarksville following his retirement from the USAF. Mrs. Holder was a very active member of their church, Little West Fork Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Holder was a very proud mother of one and grandmother of twin granddaughters, although many young people besides her grandchildren knew her affectionately as "Mimi." Mrs. Holder began keeping a daily journal in 1995 and wrote of the day's events and family's activities every day from then on. She loved reading, especially the Bible. Mrs. Holder is survived by her daughter, Donna Holder Miller (Charles), granddaughter Jill Miller, and granddaughter Caroline Miller Atkinson (Grant) all of Clarksville. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her sisters Eva Pendergrass of Clarksville and Linda Mabry (John) of Huntsville, Alabama, brother Glen Honea of Madison, and sisters-in-law Dean Honea, Sara Holder, and Estelle Lucia all of Fayetteville, Tennessee. Coming from a large and loving family, Mrs. Holder is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family. The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Meadows Nursing Facility for their loving care. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Her celebration of life will be 12 noon on Thursday, April 13, 2023 held at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Kim Allen officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Clarksville.
