Glenn Meek

June 5, 1936 — February 6, 2024

Robert Glenn Meek, lovingly known as Glenn, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on February 6, 2024. He was born on June 5, 1936. Glenn was a dedicated farmer who worked tirelessly alongside his brothers to manage a dairy farm for many years. In addition to dairy farming, they also raised beef cattle, crops, and swine. His unwavering commitment to his work and love for the land were evident to all who knew him.

Glenn found great joy in being on the farm. It was there that he felt most at peace, surrounded by nature and the animals that he cared for deeply. Quail hunting and fishing were two of his favorite pastimes when he wanted to take a break from the demands of farm life.

He was a 1954 graduate of Clarksville High School. Glenn was a faithful member of Macedonia Presbyterian Church for over 80 years, Glenn's spirituality played a central role in his life. He found solace and strength within the walls of the church community, cherishing the relationships he formed with fellow attendees.

However, above all else, Glenn cherished his beloved wife Shirley Halliday Meek. Theirs was a love story that spanned over six decades. Through thick and thin, they navigated life together with unwavering support for one another. The bond they shared was unbreakable and filled with deep affection.

Glenn's time serving in the US Army during the 1950s instilled in him a sense of duty and patriotism that stayed with him throughout his life. He held his military service close to his heart and always held profound respect for his country.

Glenn Meek's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends, including his wife, Shirley; their sons Thom Meek, Bob (Karen) Meek, and Greg (Jessy) Meek; his brother Edwin; and his treasured grandchildren, Heiler Meek Sweely (Ben), Brinley Meek, Emma Meek, and Hank Meek.

Glenn was greeted in heaven by his parents Robert Daniel Meek and Lottie Dawson Meek, as well as his brothers Herman S. Meek and James Franklin Meek. Their memories will live on through the stories shared by loved ones.

To honor Glenn's memory and celebrate his life, a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Dr. Roger Freeman, Rev. Kathy Fox, and Bro. Phillip Chambers will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
