Richard Ray Hannah, 54 of Cunningham, Tennessee passed away on April 16th, 2025. Richard was welcome at the gates of Heaven by his mother, Suzanne Hannah, who passed before him in 2007.
Richard, “Rick” was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Randall and Suzanne Hannah. The family was active military throughout his childhood and he grew up in Georgia and Alabama before permanently settling in the Clarksville, Tennessee area. He was a bright and imaginative child. He told many stories about growing up in Boy Scouts. He was inducted into the Honor Society alongside his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Lynn McLean. The pair graduated Montgomery Central High School, class of 1988 and married the following year. With the help of their family, the two of them started building their home together, which would later be affectionately known as their “retirement project”. Together they raised three children, Joshua, Jacob, and Carrie. Richard later returned to school to earn his Bachelor’s degree at APSU, graduating class of 2007, Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Environmental Geography, an emphasis on GIS.
Richard and his family are lifelong members of Gum Springs Baptist Church, where Rick served as a deacon for many years, aiding his church family in times of need and supporting countless members of his church family.
Richard worked as a GIS Analyst for the city at Clarksville Gas & Water for 15 years before his health declined. The family would like to acknowledge each and every coworker who supported Rick during this time and voluntarily gave up months worth of their sick leave/vacation time for him to attend his medical appointments before retiring.
Rick received a kidney from his loving wife, Kim, and the two underwent the transplant in the Summer of 2016.
Despite his continued health problems post-transplant, Rick strived to enjoy every new day that came. He valued spending time in the great outdoors. He loved camping and hiking in his younger days. He was an avid deer hunter and looked forward to upcoming seasons. Him and his daughter have shared many fishing memories together. Him and his wife take pride in their beautiful garden, along with every harvest. The two of them were handy and always anticipated their next building projects for their country home. Rick always looked forward to vacations with his family—whether canyon, beach, cruise, or mountains. The family recalls one of his most happiest days was picking out his tractor. Rick looked forward to canning in the summertime, and sitting by a fire in the wintertime. He had a fond love of animals, enjoyed his wife’s baking, and his favorite classic tv shows.
He was a master of many hobbies, loved tinkering around his workshop, spending time with his farm dogs, and making his family laugh with his stories.
He had an uncanny gift for remembering names, facts, history, and events; becoming a beloved storyteller and natural born comedian who captured the attention of all who would listen to his experiences and his knowledge of history and geography.
Rick was known for his photographic memory and his contagious smile. His words of advice carried the wisdom of someone who seemed to have lived many lives. He stood tall yet humbled himself before God. He was a true patriot for his country, a value reflected in both his character and convictions.
His family will forever remember him as highly intelligent, strong-willed, compassionate, and kind, with an unparalleled sense of humor and a gift for making friends wherever he went. He was truly the salt of the earth and a light in this world.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Suzanne Hannah.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Kimberly, and three children, Joshua Ray Hannah, Jacob Hunter Hannah, and Carrie Elizabeth Hannah. He is also survived by his father, Randall Hannah, and loving sister, Katherine (Landon) Hogue; father/mother-in-law, Jim and Betty McLean.
Pallbearers will be Grover Cleveland McLean IV., Landon Hogue, Joshua Hannah, Jacob Hannah, Steven Pianis, and Chris Stone.
