Delbert Pete Homol, 74, Clarksville, was taken home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Gum Springs Baptist Church with Revs. Monty Flannigan and James Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Chapel and from 12 noon until the hour of service Saturday at the Church.
Born in Mingo Junction, OH on June 19, 1938, to the late Pete and Julia Barto Homol. Delbert served in the U.S. Army which led him to Clarksville where he met his wife of 50 years, Wanda. Delbert owned Homol construction Company for many years and retired as a Baptist Minister. He had the joy and honor of pastoring Cross Creek Baptist Church for 8 years, and his Church home, Gum Springs Baptist Church for 22 years. He retired from the ministry in 2000, but continued to preach the Word in hopes of reaching others for Christ.
Left behind to cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, Wanda Slate Homol; daughters, Tammy (William) Perry, Cindy (Kevin) Lazenby, Susan (Walt) Anthony, Melinda (Jay) Smith; grandchildren, Jessica (Ben) Workman, Cristy Lazenby Garrett, Steven (Kimber) Lazenby, Justin (Cindy) Kinnear, Luke Smith, Cara Smith, Taylor Anthony, Kristen Anthony, Jessica (Robert) Hart, Amber Anthony; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Homol; sisters, Joanne Hanks, Darlene Kulas and Patty Morse.
Pallbearers will be William Perry, Kevin Lazenby, Walt Anthony, James Smith, Jerry Jones, Ben Workman, Justin Kinnear and Steven Lazenby.
