Raymond was born on July 1, 1948, in Montgomery County Tennessee to Murray and Irma Bagwell. He lived his entire life in the Sango community, the last 30 years at his home on Old Sango Road which he fondly named “Crawfish Corner.” It is recognizable by the tall windmill on the property. For many years he strung it with lights for Christmas. Raymond worked as a maintenance planner for Trane Co. for 42 years. He also owned Bagwell Electric.
He had many interests. He was a founding member of the Montgomery County Antique Tractor and Engine Club (MCATAEC), serving on the Board for 23 years and as President for five years. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and engines. He especially valued the friendships he made through the club. He also enjoyed fishing and watching Lady Vols basketball. In his 20’s he was a member of the Montgomery County Ski Club. He even water skied on New Year’s Day in the Cumberland River on Riverside Dr. Raymond loved racing and competed in drag racing for many years, first as a driver and then as support and crew for his son Ross. He was a member of the Montgomery County Go-Kart Association in the 1980s and later crewed for Ross at races. Most of all Raymond loved his family.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Murray and Irma Bagwell.

He is survived by his son, Ross Edward Bagwell and daughter-in-law Kimberly, Ross’s mother Kathy Bagwell, brother Tommy Bagwell (Jane), sisters Sandy Lieding (Charlie) and Sherry Weaver (Gary), stepdaughters Amanda Boyd (Bryan) and Amy Hing (James). Beloved grandchildren Ramsey Emerson Bagwell, Adelynn Rae Bagwell, Mason Boyd, Jackson Boyd and Parker Boyd (Victoria). Pallbearers will be Ronnie Nicholson, David Clark, Scott Bagwell, Tim Cash, Bobby Moore, Carl Baldwin and Bill Peacher. Honorary pallbearers are David Nussbamuer, Charlie Lieding and Gary Weaver.

Raymond was very proud that Real Life Sango Church chose the Bagwell family farm on Sango Rd. to build their church. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family requests donations be made to Real Life Sango Church (3575 Sango Rd. 37043) or St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org).

The family extends the deepest appreciation to St. Thomas West Hospital 3rd floor MICU for their wonderful care. The family also thanks the Montgomery County Antique Tractor and Engine Club for their love and support.
