Patsy Blackwell

November 24, 1937 — January 12, 2024

Patsy Ann Ross Blackwell went to be with her beloved Lord Jesus on January 12, 2024, while at Signature Health Care of Erin TN.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 9:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Baggett officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 8:30 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday morning.

Patsy was born on November 24, 1937 to Dee Ross and Eunice Dale Robinson Ross of Erin, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband Hunter Blackwell; her sons, Jerry D. Hankins and Rex N. Hankins; and siblings Edwena Ross Cole, Otheda Ross Parchman, Milford Ross, Ewell D. Ross, C. Ray Ross, Bobby Joe Ross, Colene Ross Lomax, and Brenda Joyce Ross.

Patsy is survived by her daughters, Pamela J. Hankins Barfield and Blinda Joy Hankins Baggett (Tony); stepson, Roger Blackwell (Kris); and stepdaughter, Darlene Carter (Darrell).

Patsy was lovingly known as both Mamaw and Nana to her 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. At family gatherings, she could often be seen overlooking the crowd and proudly saying, “I started all of this.” She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Patsy was devoted to serving Jesus Christ and His church, beginning and ending her 54 years of service to the Lord at Peach Grove Pentecostal Church in Erin, TN.

She was a production line employee at Erin Industry, Acme Boot, and Aqua glass; but the work she was most known for was cooking at local restaurants and the Houston County Jail. Both her family and community members enjoyed her homestyle cooking, especially her cornbread dressing, her buttermilk biscuits, and her fresh apple cake.

Patsy had a zest for life and enjoyed traveling to various parts of the United States as well as going on social outings with her friends and family, but some of her fondest memories were of the many evenings she spent playing cards with her husband, Hunter. Her family is comforted knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord, as well as reunited with her husband and sons.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Jamie Hankins, Jeremy Hankins, John Hankins (J.J.), Jarrett Hankins, Jerison Hankins, and Peyton Baggett, as well as special friend of the family, Jerry “Boomer” Bucciarelli.

Arrangements are entrusted to Nave Funeral Home, (931) 289-4277, NaveFuneralHomes.com.
