Michael McKay, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and a respected member of his community, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Clarksville, Tennessee, at the age of 78. Born on December 29, 1946, in Maine, Michael's life was characterized by his dedication to family, his career, and his service to his country.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Michael served during the Vietnam War, reflecting his commitment to his nation and the values of duty and honor. Upon his return, he carried that spirit into his career as a truck driver, where he made a significant impact through his work ethic and professionalism.

Michael was not only dedicated to his profession but also to his local organizations, being an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9935 and the American Legion in Gardner, Maine. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he participated wholeheartedly in community life.

Michael's family was the cornerstone of his existence. He is survived by his beloved children, Dawn Engelman (Jeff), Holly Moore (Chuck), Michael McKay II (Karen), and Katie Mallinger (Tom). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Andrea Herrell, Scottie Johnson, Alec Moore, Justin McKay, Lauren McKay, Keith Griffith, Nicole Engelman, and Brenden Engelman who cherished the time spent with their grandfather and will carry his memory forward.

Additionally, he is survived by his siblings: Robert "Bob" McKay, Jackie Butler, Jill Brann, Mark McKay, and Jay McKay, who shared countless memories and experiences with him throughout the years. The bonds of love and camaraderie they formed have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Suzanne McKay and his second wife Bernadette "Bernie" McKay, and his parents, Donald and Christine McKay, who were integral to shaping the man he became. Their love and support were foundational pillars in his life.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives he touched.
