Michael Tully Lake 83, with wife Betty of 61 years by his side, passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2024, at their home in Erin, Tennessee, following a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. Born February 9th, 1941, in Renton, Washington, he was raised by his adoptive parents James “Dutch” and Ona Lake. Mike graduated from Powell County High School in Deer Lodge, Montana. At age 19 he enlisted in the Army and bravely served his country in the 101st Air borne and Special Forces retiring as a SGM in 1986 after 26 years of service. He and Betty then moved back to Montana where they lived in Condon until 2021.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents James and Ona and half-brother Fred Tully. He is survived by his wife Betty and 3 sons John (Laurice), Charles (Dee) and Kevin (Inga), grandchildren Cassie, Shawn, Tyler, Tiffanie, Ryan, & Hailey, Brandon, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Cord & Josh, and Samantha & Bailey as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed big game hunting, bird hunting and fishing with his boys and his grandchildren. He could out hike them all.
Mike’s words were as good as gold. He believed in the power of a handshake. His strong character and true integrity earned him the respect of everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He will be greatly missed.
