Mary Osborne Watson, age 94, of Brentwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at Somerfield Health Center in Brentwood on May 31, 2014.
Mary was born in Columbia, Tennessee, on October 21, 1919, to Lucia Frierson and Frank Stone Osborne. She attended Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, and after transfer, graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Mary lived most of her life in Clarksville, Tennessee, where she was an active member of Madison Street United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was a 50-plus year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mary also thoroughly enjoyed both her bridge club and her book club for numerous years where she made many lasting friendships. Most of all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Lucy Watson Johnson (Buz) of Knoxville, Martha Watson Barrett (Carter) of Poquoson, Virginia, and Libba Watson Crook (Jerry) of Nashville; ten grandchildren, John Johnson, Bill Johnson (Katie), Grey Ligon (Ashlee), Elizabeth Ligon Parisher (Jimmy), Paul Crook (Susan), Matt Crook, Darden Barrett, Anne Ligon, Ben Crook and Mellie Ligon; and one great-grandchild, Vaughan Parisher. She was predeceased by her brothers, Frank and Albert Osborne, her first husband, Jesse Lee Carpenter, second husband, John Morrow Watson, and son-in-law Herbert Vaughan Ligon.
McReynolds, Nave & Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison Street, Clarksville, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Clarksville. Pallbearers will be Mary’s seven grandsons and three sons-in-law.
