Mabel Steeley, 85 of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Jim Monday officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday and Monday evening and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.
Mabel was born on July 28, 1930 in Granite City, IL, the daughter of the late Ray Vaughn Brown and Alice Cragg Brown. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Stephen Wayne Steeley.
She retired from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and former Montgomery County Commissioner. Mabel was a Methodist.
Survivors include her sons, David Michael (Joyce) Steeley of Hopkinsville, KY, James Douglas (Emma) Steeley of Mt. Juliet, and Richard Steeley of Nashville, TN; 5 grandchildren including Stephanie Page and 11 great-grandchildren; the father of her children, James Edward Steeley; daughter-in-love, Nelda Steeley.
Pallbearers will be Laurie Kainz, Carol Davis, Connie Shephard, Jonathan Steeley, Matt Henderson, Davis Page, and Drew Frey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Montgomery County Commissioners and employees of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army or the Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library.
