Lucy Newcom

Rebecca Lucille Newcom “Lucy”, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the age of 79 in Clarksville, TN.

Lucy was born in Clarksville, TN on March 4, 1947; the daughter of the late Herman Byard and Mattie “Louise” Shelton Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Left to cherish the memory of Lucy are her loving children, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Smith, Gregory (Dawna) Smith and Steven Browning; stepson, Jaime Browning and; brother, Ervin “Buster” Moody; and her niece Melissa (Gary) Smith, who was 12 years old when Lucy began raising her.

Lucy also leaves behind serval grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; all which she loved deeply. She loved the Lord, spending time with her family and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Private Family services will be held at a later date.
