Lora Regina Mackens Britt, of Slayden, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was 96 years of age.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Slayden Church of God of Prophecy with the Reverends E. C. Kephart and David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday at the church.
Lora entered into this life on January 13, 1917, daughter to Charlie and Susie Mockabee Mackens. In addition to being a loving wife and aunt throughout her years, Mrs. Britt worked as a machine operator for the former Montgomery Co. Manufacturing Company. She was a fine Christian lady and a charter member of the Slayden Church of God of Prophecy.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Britt; and her sister, Mina Britt.
Survivors include her half brothers, Charles Mackens and the Rev. James Mackens, niece, Betty Fletcher, niece and caregiver, Colene Sykes, great niece and caregiver, Wanda Sykes Knight, and several other nieces and nephews.
