Laverne Gjellstad, age 69, of Clarksville, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at her home in Clarksville.
A funeral mass will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home and 3 p.m. until the hour of service Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Additionally, a prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Laverne entered this life on October 25, 1944 in Hilo, Hawaii, daughter to Salvador Vargas Sevilla and Philomena Caminos Sevilla. She married the love of her life, Timothy Gjellstad, in 1972 and just a few years later they both made Clarksville their home. She worked in an eighteen year career as the Guidance Secretary at Kenwood Middle School and was active with her church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Laverne also formerly belonged to the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and enjoyed the piano, gardening, and most of all, her family.
In addition to her husband of Clarksville, Laverne is survived by her children, Leilani Endicott (Brad), Reuben Gjellstad (Marysol), Melanie Madsen (Chris), and Aaron Gjellstad (Jamie); and her grandchildren, Kyana and Kenzo Gjellstad.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are preferred to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School.
