Karen Ann Surber, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 78. Born on August 4, 1947, Karen dedicated much of her life to serving others, especially during her remarkable 35-year career with American Airlines as a flight attendant, where she brought smiles and comfort to countless passengers across the skies.
Karen had a zest for life that was infectious. She loved traveling and embarking on adventures, always eager to explore new places and share her experiences with those she loved. Her passion for caring extended beyond travel; she found immense joy and purpose in tending to her animals. Moreover, Karen's heart was deeply intertwined with her church family at The Church at Harpeth Heights. Her faith and friendships formed a foundation of love and support throughout her life. Above all, it was her family that brought her the greatest joy. Karen proudly embraced her role as a mother to her daughters, Kathryn Surber (Chris Brand) and Elizabeth Palmer (Charles Palmer), and a devoted grandmother to her five granddaughters: Olivia, Emily, Amaya, Isabella, and Ariahnna. Her love for them was boundless, and she created lasting memories that they will cherish forever.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Elizabeth Boosheck, and her daughter, Amy Covington. Karen's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her surviving daughters and grandchildren, reminding them of the warmth and kindness she shared so openly.
