Joy Rachel Shewmaker Carlisle, 79, Cunningham, TN, died Monday, October 8, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday.
She was a member of the Warfield Boulevard Church of Christ. Brothers Roy Goodmiller and Steve Miller will officiate.
Joy was born January 1, 1933 in Paragould, Arkansas to Mabel and Marion Luther Shewmaker. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was one of 10 children and is preceded in death by five brothers (Cletus, Randall, Jerome, Phillip Rowland, and Marion Lee) as well as two sisters (Sally Beatrice Pappas and Ruby Juanita Rush). She has one living brother, Clevie Gene, and one living sister, Shirley Helen Liverett.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard C. Carlisle; one son, Rick (Terry) Carlisle of Clarksville; three daughters, Rita (Richard) Casazza of Laurel, MD, Cynthia Kayyod of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Deborah (Hall) Jenkins of Clarksville. She is survived by six grandchildren - one grandson, Farshod Kayyod, and five granddaughters, Crystal Leigh Carroll, Roshae Lyn Harrison, Kelly Marie Casazza, Layla Kayyod, and Lacy Carlisle Jenkins; and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Warfield Boulevard Church of Christ, 290 Warfield Blvd., Clarksville, TN 37043.
