Janie Tant

Janie Tant, age 73, of Clarksville, TN went to rest in the loving arms of her Savior early September 6, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Edwards officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Janie was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on September 2, 1950, to the late Artrue and Agee Johnson Boyett. She and her loving husband of 40 years, James Tant, moved to Clarksville, TN. While in Tennessee, she received a doctorate in education from Trevecca Nazarene University and retired from the Clarksville Montgomery County School System after 24 years of dedicated employment. Janie had taught at New Providence Middle, Woodlawn Elementary, Rossview Middle, and most recently as an attendance teacher for Central Office. Known to never meet a stranger, she had many lifelong friends, whom she enjoyed playing jokes on, going “junking” with, and most of all, free pie Wednesday at O’ Charley’s. An avid animal lover, Janie’s home was always surrounded by pets. This included horses, deer, chickens, dogs, cats, and any stray fortunate enough to find her.

Survivors include her loving husband, James; brothers, Andy, and his wife, Susie, David, and his wife, Belinda, all of Arkansas; daughter, Jan and her husband Jay, of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Erin of Cross Plains, TN;  and great-granddaughter, Addison. Janie also leaves behind her nieces, Becky, Vicky, Jilinda, and several close friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be her lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to any cancer society or animal advocacy program.
