James Estil Sykes
June 17, 1936 — May 22, 2023
James Estil Sykes, age 86, of Slayden, TN passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at his home.
Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 26, 2023, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. David Mackens officiating. Burial will follow at Potts Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service beginning at 7 p.m. The family will also be receiving friends on Friday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Estil entered this life on June 17, 1936 in Slayden, TN to the late Monroe Sykes and Twila Potts Sykes. He was a retired tow motor operator from Acme Boot, a member of Church of God of Prophecy, Slayden, and a member of the Slayden Masonic Lodge #445.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mattie Newman Sykes; daughter, Lisa Akins, and her husband, Timmy, and grandson, Cody Akins.
Pallbearers will be Dewy Potts, Gerald Harris, and James Bootie Green.
