Ettorina Alessandrina Carioti, née Carchidi, was born in 1924 and returned to her Lord on April 22, 2014. Ettorina, known as Vicky, was born in southern Italy in 1924, and in 1961 emigrated with her husband Bruno and their children to New York. There she sacrificed personal dreams and ambition for the health, happiness, and education of her children. She worked as a sewing machine operator in the sweatshops of New York, and at the same time at home cooking, cleaning, washing, tending, healing. Her “leisure” time was spent on creating embroidery and crochet pieces that attest to her underlying artistic spirit. Until her very last breath, this earth mother showed unending sweat and guts in fighting, and sometimes winning, the battles that life brought her way.
Ettorina was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno Carioti. She is survived by her beloved family: son Dominick Carioti, of New York; daughter Maria C. DuBois and husband Gene DuBois, of North Dakota; daughter Teresa M. Carioti and husband Norbert Puszkar, of Clarksville, Tennessee; granddaughter Catherine DuBois of Virginia; and grandson George DuBois, of North Dakota; and “little son” Brian Baskerville, of Japan.
Services will be held at a later time.
