Elvia Bernice Lane

Elvia “Bernice” Lane, age 91 of Cumberland City, TN, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Houston County Community Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at the Chapel of Nave Funeral Home with Bro. Stephen Cathey officiating. Burial will follow in Lowry Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday afternoon.

Bernice entered this life on March 29, 1934 in Cumberland City, TN, daughter to the late Baylor and Grace Durham Brown. A lifelong resident of Cumberland City, Bernice married the love of her life, Ryman Lane, where she remained happily married for 47 years. Bernice was a faithful longtime member of Elk Creek Baptist Church and gave selflessly to her church family, and her community for many years. She had a love for working in the yard, sewing, and gardening; but her true passion in life was her family; she will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Ryman Lane; siblings, Homer Brown, and Fronia Anderson.

Survivors include her loving nieces and nephews, Terri (Terry) Mathis, Tracy Downs, Donna (Tom) Kluender, Terri Mohorn; great-nephews, Matt (Kari) Mathis, Aaron (Abby) Mathis; great-great-nieces and nephews, Lynlee, Case, Lainee, Carter, Emily, and Griffin.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
