Dr. Ray Ross St. John, Jr.

Dr. Ray Ross St. John, Jr., age 79, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the VA Hospital, Nashville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Dr. Ted Denny officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and 12 noon until the hour of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Additionally, a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ray entered this life on July 29, 1933 in Lenoir, NC, son of Ray Ross St. John, Sr. and Virgie Thomas St. John. Ray retired from an exceptional 28 year military career with the U.S. Army in which he had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his service to country, Dr. St. John worked at Memorial Hospital and the Harriet Cohn Center providing Psychology Counselor care to those in need. He had attained expertise in the field of Psychology by earning his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Austin Peay State University, Master's in Counseling from Covington Theological, and Doctorate in Counseling from Covington Seminary. Ray was actively involved with the McAllister Lodge where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a Scottish Rite-Shriner, member of the Eastern Star #202 Clarksville, and life member of the DAV-Chaplin Hardy Shelby, Lodge 45. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member of the church family at Bethel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
He leaves behind to cherish his legacy, loving wife of 62 years, Violet Lomas St. John of Clarksville, and children, Ray Frank St. John and wife Donita of Palmyra, Deborah Poston and husband Kenneth of Clarksville, Linda Crittenden and husband Michael of White Bluff, and Richard St. John and wife Roberta of Whites Creek. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James St. John.
