Dorothy Jean Perry, a beloved figure to her family and community, peacefully passed away at her home on her 77th birthday, August 15, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 15, 1948, in Paris, Tennessee, Dorothy dedicated her life to both her family and her work, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment.
As co-owner of Perry's Auto Repair alongside her husband, Lonnie Perry, Jr., Dorothy was instrumental in the daily operations of the business, serving as the office manager. Her unwavering dedication to her work reflected the strong values she upheld throughout her life.
Dorothy was not only a devoted businesswoman but also a cherished member of her church family at Faith Outreach Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she embraced her role within the church family with warmth and kindness. Outside of her professional and spiritual commitments, Dorothy found joy in hobbies such as sewing, quilting, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Additionally, she had a fondness for the nostalgic charm of retro Nintendo classics, which brought her many moments of happiness.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Jeannie Decker, Christie Perry, Sherrie Santana (Wilhelm), and Jessica Peter (Wesley); her siblings, Paul Chisenhall (Beth), Paulette Cross, Pastor Ginger Luffman (Pastor William), and April Couch (Ronald), along with 24 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and her beloved pet, Sweetie, all of whom carry her spirit forward. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lonnie Perry, Jr.; her children, Lonnie Perry III and Joyce Marie Perry; and her dear parents, Paul and Marie Chisenhall.
Dorothy's family will receive friends from 8 am until the hour of service at 11 am at the Chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Her siblings, Pastors Ginger Luffman and Paul Chisenhall officiating. She will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery. Adam Decker, Andrew Decker, Wilhelm Santana, James Houghtaling, Leo Musarra, Charles Ginyard, Jr.
Her family and friends will remember her for her loving nature, her steadfast faith, and the colorful memories she created with every stitch and puzzle piece. Dorothy Jean Perry’s life was a testament to love, hard work, and devotion, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
