CSM (Ret) Henry Darrell Fugate, age 81, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Witmer officiating. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Full military honors will be rendered.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Henry entered this life on September 28, 1932 in Hazard, Kentucky. After years of service to his country, Henry retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a Korean War and Vietnam veteran. Most notable among the many military honors and citations he received are the Silver Star, 3 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts, RVN Cross of Gallantry, Ranger Tab, and the Master Parachutist Badge. Also, Henry was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Fort Campbell Lodge #946.
Surviving are his wife of some 57 years, Shelby Collins Fugate; children, Duane Fugate and Sheila Durocher and her husband Darryl; grandchildren, Bradley Fugate, Jessica Fugate, Kyle Durocher, Matthew Durocher, and Nicholas Durocher; brothers Carroll Fugate and wife Lilly and David Fugate and wife Helen; and nieces and nephews, Tony, Tom, Ted, Susie, and Jeffrey Fugate, and Josh and Lenakay Bakun.
