Coetta Gwyn Daffron

November 5, 1931 — July 12, 2025

Cunningham

Coetta Gwyn Daffron, born on November 5, 1931, in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, passed peacefully at her home in Cunningham, Tennessee, on July 12, 2025. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother with a warmth that touched countless lives over her lifetime.

She worked for Clarksville Memorial for many years. Following her retirement, Coetta was able to focus on the things that were most important to her: cultivating loving and deep relationships with all of her family. Those family members that survive Coetta are her husband, John Herbert Daffron, and her daughters, Kathy Kristofferson (Matt) and Karen Holt (Jerry). As a proud grandmother, she took joy in all her grandchildren: Justin Shoffstall (Ceara), Megan Kahl (Andy), Logan McCloud (Michael), Noah Shoffstall (Marie), Ben Shoffstall (Sarah), Luke Kristofferson, Cooper Holt, Maddie Holt, and Grace Holt. Coetta was also a proud great-grandmother to Moira, Christian, Caleb, Gabe, Joe, Brodie, Gwen, and Juliette, each of whom brought her joy and pride. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Long (Sharon), and nephews, Josh, Jeff, Mitchell, and niece, Judy.

Beyond her family, Coetta had a rich tapestry of interests that included reading and playing Scrabble, activities that allowed her to engage with others and share joyful moments. She was known among her family and friends for her exceptional baked treats, particularly her amazing apple pies and cinnamon rolls, which were often enjoyed during gatherings and celebrations. Her deep faith shone in her love of scripture which she shared with her daughters. Her endless devotion to sharing the Good News through Good News Club, Bible Study Fellowship or as a Sunday School teacher. She mentored many women through the years and in her home church, Gum Springs where she found community and comfort in the Lord.

Coetta was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kaye Daffron, her parents, Alfred and Eleanor Bidleman Long, and her brothers, Richard Donald Long, and Doyle Byron Long, and niece, Stephanie. Her absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will continue to resonate within her family and friends.

A visitation to celebrate Coetta's life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 12:00 PM at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, located at 1209 Madison St, Clarksville, TN 37040. Rev. David Mackens will officiate. It is a time for all who knew Coetta to gather in remembrance of a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to her family, friends, and faith.
