Christa Holleman

October 18, 1930 — June 13, 2014

Christa Nussbaumer Holleman, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2014. Born October 18, 1930 in Clarksville, TN, Mrs. Holleman was a daughter of the late David Paul Nussbaumer, Sr. and Hanni Nyffeler Nussbaumer.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Granville Holleman, Jr.; her sons, James Granville (Janet) Holleman, III, John Mark (Ricki) Holleman, and Robert Dudley (Ginna) Holleman, all of Clarksville; her daughter, Martha Elizabeth Holleman of Greensboro, NC; her grandchildren, James Brandon (Melissa) Holleman, Travis Alan Holleman, Carlynn Elizabeth Holleman, John Mark Holleman, Jr. and James William Holleman, all of Clarksville; her brothers, David (Betty) Nussbaumer of Clarksville, Christoph (Katie) Nussbaumer of Clarksville, and John (Beverly) Nussbaumer of Denver, CO; and her sisters, Heidi (Joseph) Hough of Claremont, CA and Annemarie Harrod of Nashville, TN.
Mrs. Holleman was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville and taught Sunday School for 48 years. In addition to her service on numerous church committees, she was actively involved in community endeavors. Among those, she served on the Centerstone of Tennessee Board of Directors, the YMCA Board of Directors and the Austin Peay State University Advisory Council. Mrs. Holleman was a founding member of both Stockwatchers of the Cumberland Investment Club and Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville, TN. She was a graduate of Leadership Clarksville and former President of the Les Candides Garden Club. A loving wife and devoted mother, she was an avid gardener, a gracious hostess and nurtured her family and friends with tremendous culinary talent. Throughout her life, Mrs. Holleman remained an education advocate and was passionate about mentoring youth.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, June 16th from 4-8pm at First Baptist Church and on Tuesday, June 17th at 9am until the hour of service at First Baptist Church Clarksville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at 10am at First Baptist Church Clarksville and officiated by Dr. Felts Dent and Pastor Larry Riley. A graveside service will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Brandon Holleman, Travis Holleman, John Wayne Clardy, Jr., Frank J. Runyon, III, David Harris, Jacob Finn and Shan Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brigadier General (retired) Wendell Gilbert, Dr. David Hasse, Dr. Reginald Lowe, Frank McGregor and Robert Welch.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the First Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 435 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to: McReynolds, Nave and Larson Funeral Home, 1209 Madison Street, Clarksville (931) 647-3371.
