Charles Ray Swaffer

Charles Ray Swaffer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 17th, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held12 noon Saturday, February 24, 2024 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Madewell officiating. Burial will follow at Davidson Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Born on December 28th, 1935, to the late Benton and Alice Boone  Swaffer. Charles lived a fulfilling life full of love, laughter, and cherished moments. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where he enjoyed worship and fellowship. Charles found peace in nature and enjoyed camping. He also had a love for traveling. He spent his years working for Civil Service at Ft. Campbell, where he ultimately retired from.  Charles also served as the trustee for Davidson Cemetery. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty June Swaffer with whom he shared over 67 beautiful years together, his grandson Laughren Gregory Swaffer, sister Alice Rhey Swaffer.

Charle's legacy lives on through his children: David (Joyce) Swaffer, Andy (Elaine) Swaffer, and Lee (Sara) Swaffer. He was also a proud grandfather to Ben Swaffer, Josh Swaffer, Cole Swaffer, Candice Jackson. His great-grandchildren include Benton Swaffer III, Bradley Swaffer, Allison Swaffer, Hannah Swaffer, and Kinsley Swaffer. Brothers, William "Bill" Swaffer, and Herbert Edward Swaffer.

Throughout his life, Charles touched the hearts of those around him with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Davidson Cemetery, 2588 Davidson Graveyard Road, Clarksville, TN 37043.

Pallbearers will be Cole Swaffer, John David Jackson, Josh Swaffer, Ben Swaffer, Bradley Swaffer, and Garry Green.
