Tommy entered into this life on March 8, 1940, in Cumberland City, TN to the late Charles and Ethleen Thomas McIntosh. Tommy and his wife were dedicated to serving their Lord Jesus Christ with their brothers and sisters at Gum Springs Baptist Church. Their generosity and prayerfulness impacted so many in their community and beyond. Tommy was always a kind and generous man, who valued hard work. From his roots in mechanics, welding, and excavation through to the founding of McIntosh Construction (est. 1966), McAsphalt, and McIntosh Rental Company. Tommy’s entrepreneurial spirit helped form a community of craftsmen who have made a significant impact on the development of our community. For years Tommy and his beloved, Skrippy, could be found soaring overhead in his Gruman Tiger. He had a passion for flying, where he could marvel at God’s creation from above. Tommy loved spending time with his family and teaching them important life lessons. He always jumped at the chance to pick his grandchildren up from school, take them riding on everything from neat cars to backhoes and was always willing to enjoy ice cream with them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Sarah “Skrippy” McIntosh, and his brothers, Sammy McIntosh and Curt McIntosh
Survivors include his children, Bric (Trish) McIntosh, Ran McIntosh, Candice (Joe) Wall; grandchildren, Erica (Kyle) Christmas, Donavan (Ashley) McIntosh, Morgan McIntosh, Alayna McIntosh, Joe Wall III; great-grandchildren, Bailey (Thomas) Compton and Josie Christmas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gum Springs Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or Tennova Hospice. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Tennova Hospice for the care provided for Tommy and Skrippy.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike McMillian, Terry Hooper, Craig Bluedorn, Charles Buchanan, Charles Davis, Timmy Ferrell, David Whitaker, Kenneth Perry.
Honorary pallbearers will be former McIntosh Construction employees.
