Listen to Obituary

Charles Black, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, in his hometown of Clarksville. He was born on March 29, 1944, in Clarksville, son of the late Lester and Betty Wickham Black.

Charles will be remembered as a hardworking man who took pride in his career with Colonial Baking, where he retired after serving as a bread delivery man. His work reflected a steady dedication and a strong sense of responsibility, qualities that shaped the way he lived and the way he will be remembered. Throughout his career, not only did Charles deliver baked items to the grocery stores and markets, but shared in friendly conversations everywhere he went. Fostering and building relationships was as vital as the baked goods he delivered.

Outside of work, Charles found enjoyment in some of life’s simple and lasting pleasures. He enjoyed golf and fishing, pastimes that brought him relaxation and happiness over the years. Charles Black’s life was rooted in Clarksville. He was a member of Clarksville High Schools Class of 1963. Clarksville was the place where he was born and where he passed away. He leaves behind the memory of a life marked by commitment, familiar routines, and the quiet joys he valued most. He will be remembered with respect and affection.

Charles was preceded by his son, David Black and his granddaughter, Megan Black. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia Brown Black; son, Randy Black (Dana), his grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan Black; siblings, Bill Black and Judy Jackson; sister-in-law, Cleta Gibbs.
