Bonnie J. Smith

March 31, 1934 — May 5, 2025

Clarksville

Bonnie J. Smith, a beloved homemaker and devoted Army wife, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Born on March 31, 1934, in Indiana, she exemplified strength and grace throughout her life, dedicating herself to nurturing her family and being a constant source of support for her husband, SFC Francis Smith (US Army, Ret), who predeceased her.

Bonnie will be fondly remembered by her children, Bill Smith (Tracy) and Phyllis Lynn Laws, who carry forward her legacy of love and care. She was a proud grandmother to Brandon Laws, Ezra Smith (Gokku), Michael Laws (Sarah), Emmy Harkay (Adam), and Evan Smith, and a cherished great-grandmother to Elli, Haley, Savannah, Nathan, Dallas, and Austin. Her family will honor her memory with gratitude for the wisdom and kindness she imparted throughout her life.

A woman of faith, Bonnie was a devoted Christian and found joy in watching Jimmy Swaggart TV programming. Her passion for gardening brought beauty into her life and the lives of those around her, and she took great pleasure in watching birds that would frequent her home, finding peace in the quiet moments spent observing nature.

Bonnie’s journey was enriched by the loving support of her family, and she will be profoundly missed. In addition to her husband, Bonnie was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Grace Jeffries, and her siblings: William F. Jeffries, Fred R. Jeffries, Lorene Woodall, and Roberta Wease.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, starting at 12:00 PM, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire future generations.
