Betty Jane Henshaw

Betty Jane Henshaw, age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 3, 2026, at her residence in Clarksville TN. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family and unconditional love.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Betty Meriweather officiating.

The Henshaw family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Burial is to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Betty was born on June 25, 1933, in Sturgis, Kentucky, to the late Roy and Lola May Smith Lawson. From her earliest days, she carried with her the kindness, strength and faith that would shape her life.

Betty was a devoted homemaker and dedicated stay-at-home mother to her two daughters, Leilani and Gloria. She poured her heart into her family and found great joy in creating a loving home and being there for those she loved.

Betty married the love of her life, Bob, on January 11, 1953. Their love was a lasting gift, and the years they shared together remained among the most precious parts of Betty’s life. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by Bob and her brother; Lee Roy Lawson.

She was a faithful member of Palmyra United Methodist Church and a dedicated member of the Country Woman’s Club.

Betty had a giving heart and found great joy in serving others. From 1995 to 2019, she volunteered in the gift shops at Clarksville Memorial Hospital, Gateway, and Tennova, giving an incredible 16,497 volunteer hours of her time to brighten the days of patients, families and visitors. She was affectionately known as the “Candy Lady” a sweet name that reflected towards others.

Her gifts and talents were unforgettable. Betty found great joy in growing beautiful long-stem roses and tending to her garden. She was well known for her chocolate chip cookies, spiced pecans, and caramel corn, which she generously shared with family and friends. She also took great pride in restoring and expertly canning chairs, bringing new life and beauty to each piece of furniture.

She is survived by her daughters; Leilani King (Terry), and Gloria Henshaw, her beloved sister; Helen Waterhouse, her granddaughter; Leslie Crites (Mason), and great-grandchildren; Maylee and Landon.

Betty’s life was a testament to her faith, family, love and service. She spent her days caring for others and seeking to honor the lord in all that she did

Betty’s family finds comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the arms of her lord. Memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Inge Daichented for her care, compassion and love she showed Better over the past year. Also, we thank Tennessee Quality Care Hospice for the care and support.
