Benny Deffendoll

Benny Deffendoll, age 96 of Clarksville passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2022.
Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday June 15, 2022 at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with Rev. Pat VanDyke officiating. Burial and Full Military Honors will follow at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Masonic Rites will be performed 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the funeral home.
Benny entered this life on June 19, 1925 in Highfill, Arkansas to the late Benjaman and Mary Payton Deffendoll. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Clarksville. Benny was a 60 Year Master Mason who was active in a myriad of Masonic organizations. He was regularly present for the state’s meetings, degrees and definitely the monthly breakfasts. He loved traveling and the brotherhood. He was a charter member of the Rispah Shrine Legion of Honor and its second Commander. He was a Shrine Clown and hospital driver. He was elected as the Potentate for Rispah Shrine, Madisonville, KY in 2015. Benny was active in Chapter 177 National Sojourners and Old Hickory Camp Heroes of 1976, at one time serving as Commander. His other Masonic affiliations included: Tennessee Lodge of Research, Valley of Nashville Scottish Rite, Clarksville York Rite Bodies, Mary Morrison Chapter No500 Order of the Eastern Star, Ft. Campbell shrine Club and Clarksville Shrine Club. He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II in the Navy and joined the Army after the war. He retired from The United States Army as a Sergeant First Class. Benny later worked as a mail carrier and ultimately retired from the United States Postal Service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alberta Deffendoll; son, Ronal Deffendoll; sister, Helen Ross and daughter by marriage, Sheridan Brown.
Survivors include his sister, Bonnie Hunt, daughter-in-law, Jane Deffendoll; grandson, Danny Deffendoll and his wife, Kelly; niece, Patricia Davis; son by marriage, William Sinks, Jr., two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The United States Military will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Morris, Dean Grimes, Benny Slusher, and Joe Winn, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children at P.O. Box 1212, Clarksville, TN 37041.
