Arnold E. Henson, a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Veteran, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on January 23, 1940, in Summertown, Tennessee, Arnold lived a life marked by service and dedication.
Arnold honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1961. Following his naval service, he committed over three decades to a distinguished Civil Service career at the Fort Campbell Army Installation, where his work undoubtedly supported countless service members and their families until his well-earned retirement. Beyond his civil service career, Arnold also owned and operated Henson Refrigeration for over a decade, reflecting his dedication and strong work ethic. An avid hunter and fisherman, Arnold found great joy in the natural world. His passion for the outdoors extended to cultivating a magnificent garden at his home, a labor of love that spanned more than sixty years. He delighted in sharing the fruits of his labor—fresh vegetables—with family and friends, a testament to his generosity and kindness.
Arnold is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Nellynn Henson; his children, William D. Henson (Angie) and Donna Henson Swift (Michael); grandchildren, Emily Lindsey (Garrett), Chapple White, and Hannah White; great-grandchildren, Sadie Lindsey, Harper Lindsey, and Jaxx Swinger; and his siblings, Dottie Cooper, Linda Hamilton, Rex Henson, and Janet Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Velma Clayton Henson, and eight siblings.
Arnolds's family will receive friends Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home, located at 1209 Madison Street, Clarksville, Tennessee, 37040. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the funeral home chapel beginning at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest with US Navy Honors at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. His family will serve as pallbearers.
Arnold E. Henson’s life was one of commitment—to his country, his craft, and most importantly, his family. His memory will remain a source of inspiration and comfort to all who knew him.
