Eleanora Kathryn "Tommy" Allen, 99, formerly of Clarksville, died on Oct.19 at Opus Post-Acute nursing home in the Columbia, S.C., area, located near her son and daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Allen was born in East Palestine, Ohio, on Nov. 20, 1920. After high school she joined the American Red Cross and served in Europe following World War II where she met her future husband, Maj. Herbert B. Allen. They married and spent an Army career together until his retirement in 1978, upon which they settled in Clarksville.
In Clarksville, she was a 28-year volunteer at the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen, on the board of Clarksville Area Urban Ministries, a member of Clarksville Garden Club, Belmont Home Demonstration Club (now Family and Community Educators) and Stocks R Us financial club. She was a member and communicant at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mrs. Allen was predeceased by her husband Ret. Col. Herbert B. Allen in 2003 after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Herbert B. Allen Jr. of Columbia.

Mrs. Allen will be laid to rest beside her husband at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
