Betsy "Corene" Stokes

October 2, 1937 — June 3, 2021

Betsy ‘Corene’ Sumner Stokes, passed quietly from this earth to be with her heavenly father June 3, 2021. Due to a brief illness. Her loving family was by her side.

Corene, was known to her family as ‘Nanny’ and friends called her ‘Bear’. Born October 2, 1937. Lifelong resident of Clarksville Montgomery County.
She was faithful, loving and devoted to her Jesus, family, church family and friends. Her Christian life and the love she had for her family was as beautiful as flowers she grew and loved so well. Her influence will remain in all the lives who knew this precious little lady.

She is preceded in death by her Mother; Earlene Shaw Sumner, Father; James W. Sumner, and Brother; James Rodi Sumner.

Her long, beautiful, and full life will forever be cherished in the lives of her loving, devoted husband; Charles W. Stokes, Daughter; Peggy (Paul) Landrum, Son; Steve (Dianna) Dodd, Son; Jerry W. Dodd, Son; Ricky (Kathi) Stokes, Daughter; Diana (Cal) Hampton. Daughter; Donna (Lee) Edmondson, Daughter; Karen Stokes (Michelle Wyatt), Sister; Pat (Dan) Bath.

She was so blessed to have a lifelong friend and confidant, she loved so much: Kitty Shelton.

She so loved and adored, as they admired their ‘Little Nanny’, were her 14 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.

She wanted to give genuine heartfelt Thank you to the Medical team that took excellent care of her these past few months:

Son-in-law, Pastor Cal Hampton will be giving Celebration of Life 2 p.m.Sunday, June 6, 2021, at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.
