Aaron Andrew Hutcheson, born May 25, 1935, died September 5, 2021.

He was born to Clarence Cleveland & Edith Conner Hutcheson in a log cabin in north Florida near Starke, the second of five children. He grew up on a 60 acre farm scratched out of the Piney Woods. The first school he attended was a local country school, Vanderbilt Elementary, with 2 teachers, 8 grades, and 37 students. He remembered riding to Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church in a farm wagon on dirt roads, studying by kerosene lamp light, and plowing corn fields behind an old plug mule when he was 7/8 years old.

He attended the University of Florida where he met and married his university sweetheart Lorene Heberling. They merged education and employment as he earned his B.S.A. & M.S.A. degrees and served as an Assistant County Agricultural Agent in Santa Rosa and Dade Counties, Florida. During those years Andrew, Kathy & Robin were born. He attended N. C. State on a Kellogg Foundation Fellowship in 1963-4 and Clemson University (National Defense Education Act Fellowship) for his Ph.D. in 1965-67.

He joined Austin Peay State University in 1967 as Chairman, Economics Department. Thirty years later he retired, having served as Faculty Senate President (1988), voted Distinguished Professor by Faculty & Students (1988), served as Visiting Professor at Esterhazy Karoly Teacher Training College in Eger, Hungary (1993) among other professional activities & recognitions. His love of teaching & learning was evident throughout his professional life.

He attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1967. Above all else he loved God & family. He also enjoyed gardening & the wonders of nature abounding on the family farm. He is survived by his wife & Best
Friend of 65 years, Lorene Helen Heberling Hutcheson, son Andrew(Cindy), daughters Kathy Grant, & Robin (Marty) Lovgren, grandchildren Aaron Hutcheson, Lindy Hutcheson Schmittou, Mark Russell Grant, Holly & Emily Lovgren, & 6 great-grandchildren.

His ashes will be buried in the Channell-Hutcheson Cemetery on the Family farm. Family & Friends will be invited to a burial service at a later date.
